Tinos

The third largest of the Cycladic islands, Tinos is neighbour to Andros and Mykonos

Getting there

The two most convenient routes to Tinos are via ferry from Mykonos or Athens.

Via Mykonos

  1. International flights are available from multiple destinations to Mykonos Airport

  2. Ferries from Mykonos to Tinos depart from the New Port (not the Old Port!). The New Port is around 15-20 minutes away from the airport by taxi or a bit longer by bus. There is generally a long line of official taxis outside the airport (or you can pre-book at welcomepickups). Taxi fares are generally in the region of EUR15. Alternatively, buses are available during the summer season to the New Port (more information and timetables available at mykonosbus - though please note the timetable is not always 100% reliable!)

  3. Ferries from Mykonos New Port to Tinos can be booked through either directferries.com or go-ferry.com. The journey takes around 30 minutes.

Via Athens

  1. International flights are available from multiple destinations to Athens International Airport

  2. Ferries from Athens to Tinos depart from Athens’ Rafina Port. Rafina is around 30 minutes away from the airport by taxi or a bit longer by bus. Taxis are generally available from outside the airport in the official taxi rank (or you can pre-book at greeka). Taxi fares are generally in the region of EUR35-50 (sometimes a bit more if there is traffic!). Alternatively, buses run by company KTEL are available from Athens airport to Rafina. These depart from opposite the airport hotel (Sofitel) at the Arrivals level (more information and timetables are available at KTEL)

  3. Ferries from Rafina Port to Tinos can be booked through directferries.com or go-ferry.com. The journey takes 2 - 4 hours, depending on the vessel type. We recommend the fast ferry, but have also tried the long trip and it is quite pleasant to sit on the deck outside if the weather allows!
